It comes in both mini machine room (MMR) and machine room less (MRL) models. The Schindler 5500 can go at speeds of 1.0 m/s to 3.0 m/s (meter per second). The limit to how high the Schindler 5500 can travel is 150 meters or 50 floors.

All Schindler 5500 elevator cabs comes with choice of four different interior designs; Navona, Times Square, Park Avenue, and Sunset Boulevard. These interior designs are nearly identical to the ones in Schindler 3300 elevators.
