Payne Industries Company is an elevator company based in Massachusetts. They were formerly based in Cambridge, MA. They serve parts of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Maine. They make some elevator parts, and most likely sell them to other companies. They also maintain elevators. They do not install elevators. They might still modernize elevators, but it is unclear.
History
Payne was founded in 1902. They were formerly called F.S. Payne Elevator Company. In 1980-1990, they changed their name to Payne Industries Company. They formerly made their own parts, and they sold their fixtures, and probably other parts to other companies. In 1988, they stopped making their own parts. In 1990, they were bought by Northern Elevator. The Payne brand was still used, possibly as Northern's United States brand. After Thyssen bought Northern, Payne was owned by Thyssen. In 1997-early 2000s, Payne stopped installing elevators. It is possible that at that time, Payne went out of business, but was back in business in 2011 or most likely up to a couple before, but it is unknown if this is true. Payne now maintains elevators, modernizes them, and makes their own parts.
