Xizi Otis (Chinese: 西子奥的斯, sometimes abbreviated as simply XO) was an elevator company from Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. It was a joint venture between Otis Elevator Company and Xizi Elevator Group formed in 1997.
History
The company was formed on March 12, 1997 as a joint venture company between Otis Elevator Company and Xizi Elevator Group, a local elevator company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Xizi UHC based in Hangzhou which has been around since 1981. At that time, it was the fifth joint venture company that Otis formed in China. Xizi Otis was under the management of Otis China Limited, a holding company formed in 1997 responsible for managing Otis's five joint ventures in China[1].
On October 20, 2016, Xizi Otis was renamed to Otis Electric (Chinese: 奥的斯机电). This marked the end of the Xizi Otis brand after almost 20 years.
