Marico Gria, or simply MG (formerly PT. Thysindo Griatama) is an elevator company based in Jakarta, Indonesia. They provide elevator installation, maintenance, repair and modernization, as well as elevator components made by various component manufacturers.
Description
The company install and modernize elevators in Indonesia using components and parts made by either Schneider Steuerungstechnik GmbH from Germany or Shanghai STEP from China. In addition, they are also a distributor of MP (Mac Phuarsa)[1], Walec and Sepac elevators, as well as a supplier of LiftEquip and Fermator components. Most of their projects are concentrated in Java and occasionally Bali.
Marico Gria was originally a distributor of Thyssen and ThyssenKrupp elevators and escalators in Indonesia[2]. At one time they were also a distributor of inclined elevators made by Hütter-Aufzüge GmbH from Hamburg, Germany[3].
History
Marico Gria was established in 1984[2] as Thysindo Griatama and started out as a distributor of Thyssen elevators and escalators in Indonesia until the time Thyssen merged with Krupp to form ThyssenKrupp. After the merger, Marico Gria became the distributor of ThyssenKrupp products until 2005 when ThyssenKrupp established its own presence in Indonesia.

Trivia
- When ThyssenKrupp tried to establish its presence in Indonesia in 2005, they were going to build an elevator factory in Jakarta under cooperation with Marico Gria. However, this was later rejected by the latter because the manager of Marico Gria felt that ThyssenKrupp would take over his company. Eventually ThyssenKrupp established its own presence with another company (most likely Pura Kencana, the distributor of Dong Yang elevators and escalators), and the plan for building the factory was cancelled.
- The word "Thysindo" in the company's old name is a portmanteau of the word "Thyssen" and "Indonesia".
