Fiam (also known as Fabbrica Italiana Ascensori Montacharichi) was a Italian elevator and escalator company based in Milan, Italy. The company was acquired by Kone in 1985, and it is now known as "Tecnolift" since in the mid-1990s.
History
Fiam era
Fiam was founded in 1939 by Guglielmo Coppola and an engineer from Stigler. They installed their first escalator in the Milan Trade Fair in 1960.
In Hong Kong, Fiam elevators were distributed and serviced by the British agent General Electric Company (GEC plc) from the 1960s until in the late 1980s. GEC was also the distributor and sole agent of Express Lifts in Hong Kong. Since Express Lifts was acquired in 1997 and GEC's Hong Kong department was acquired by Otis in 1999, some of the remaining Fiam elevators in Hong Kong are now maintained by Otis, sometimes by Kone and other generic elevator companies in Hong Kong. Fiam elevators in Singapore were also distributed by General Electric Company.
In 1985, the company decided to accept the best sale offer from Kone, selling the firm and the use of mark of Fiam.
Post-Fiam era
In 1995, following the sale of Fiam to Kone many issues in the management of Fiam are subject to alterations up to the point that Mauro Coppola decides to found TECNO, firm which start with the precise intent of replace the mark FIAM to continue where Fiam was stopped because of the sale to Kone. In 1997, they started making their first machine room less elevator.

Trivia
- Similar to Sabiem, most elevators in the 1960s to 1970s features vertical aluminum stripes as the standard cab design, as well as the landing doors (although dark wooden, painted walls and normal stainless steel designs were also found but quite rare).
- Some Fiam elevators installed in Switzerland are branded as FIAM Ascensa.
- Many Fiam elevators installed in Italy are branded as Fiam/Iman
- Some Fiam elevators can find it in Government Building(s) in Hong Kong, such as public estate blocks.
